Welcome to the International Chernobyl Network

Children from Borydanka Ukraine arrive home with wonderful memories of their visit to England. The children spent a month with the Billericay Chernobyl Children’s Life Line link. They were taken care of by volunteer host families. The children visited the dentist and opticians. The children will always remember the kindness of the British people

Last April 26th, FEDASIB Spain, as we already told you , presented the candidacy to the Princess of Asturias 2,016 prize, in the categorie Concord, for the Heroes of Chernobyl. We will know in September the decision of the jury, so it is now when we ask you for the last effort to support this candidacy.

Action Weeks 2016 in Great Britain

Chernobyl Children’s Life Line organised many different Actions for the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. There was Cathedral and church services including Canterbury Cathedral, all were attended by many dignitaries and members of the public. Candles were lit in remembrance of those who lost their lives as a result of the disaster.

Belarusian Memorial Chapel

The project designed by Spheron’s Tszwai is already started.

The Belarusian Memorial Chapel is being built dedicated to the memory of the victims of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster,in Finchley, north London and the project is funded by the Holy See of Rome.

The foundation of the chapel is now completed, and on 7th Feb, there will be a small ceremony to lay the cornerstone.

The chapel is expected to be completed in Autumn, and they are planning to have some commemorating events in April for the 30th Anniversary of Chernobyl.

V National Forum by FEDASIB

 

   Last weekend, (18-20 September)  took place in Madrid (Spain)  the V National Forum of organizations and groups that develop humanitarian activities with Belarusian Children after the catastrophic consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident, organized by FEDASIB.

In this forum, were discussed the prospects and proposals for the Spanish humanitarian action in Belarus and the activities in Spain since the Chernobyl disaster to help Belarusian children.

30th Anniversary in Ukraine

On the 12thApril Journalists arrived in Korosten Ukraine fromEquator to interview liquidators as part of a documentary for the 30th anniversary of Chernobyl. Tomás Ciuffardi  had made contact through The facebook page Fire Fighters of Chernobyl  to ask for help to meet liquidators. Alexy Geraimovich a fire fighter in Korosten organised such meetings with Chernobyl witnesses. Alexy is also involved with the Ukraine Fire Fighter Project, a member of the ICN. For the 3oth anniversary of the fire service  of Korosten took part in an event held in the town for remembering the liquidators. Also at the Event was fire fighter  Michael Pitney from the UK and the founder of the Ukraine Fire fighter project. Hundreds of people turned out for the service along with widows and families who have lost loved ones as a result of the disaster.

Nobel Prize Literature 2015

 

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2015 was assigned to the Belarusian Svetlana Alexievich.
Was awarded "for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time".

Svetlana, born in Ukraine and raised in Belarus, writes precisely about all issues that for so many years, our associations and ICN, had to face for remembering the Chernobyl disaster.

Безмолвные свидетели

Не так давно свет увидела книга «Безмолвные свидетели – три десятилетия после ядерной катастрофы в Чернобыле». Этот уникальный журналистский фото-проект отображает тревожную картину последствий катастрофы, почти 30 лет спустя.

Книга является результатом пяти поездок в пострадавшие регионы Украины и Беларуси. Мы общались с исследователями, свидетелями и жертвами катастрофы, и делали фотографии безлюдной местности вокруг реактора.

Happy Holidays Across Europe

Thousands of children from Belarus and Ukraine have been enjoying recuperative holidays with Chernobyl organisations across Europe. Children of all ages, from 5 year olds with their mums, to teenagers, have a month long holiday which boosts their immune systems and gives them a better chance of staying healthy. This is particularly important for children who have had cancer or other serious illness and for those who live in the more contaminated areas.

Счастливое лето для белорусских и украинских детей!

Вот уже который год членские организации Международной Чернобыльской Сети приглашают детей из пострадавших регионов в разные страны Европы для летних оздоровительных каникул. Многие дети находятся в процессе выздоровления от рака или других тяжелых заболеваний, у других нет серьезных проблем со здоровьем, но они живут в загрязненных районах Беларуси или Украины. За четыре недели свежего воздуха и здорового питания их иммунная система значительно укрепляется и оставляет деток здоровыми и сильными как минимум на два следующих года.

Европейские Недели 2015: Дань воспоминаниям о Чернобыле отдают в более 100 локациях по всему миру

Акции зажжения свечей, интервью очевидцев и другие мероприятия, которые проводятся в этом году в более чем 100 городах Европы, Турции, Бразилии и Японии, напоминают нам о 29-й годовщине аварии на Чернобыльской АЭС. "Мы не должны забывать о последствиях трагедии в Чернобыле, которая поломала жизни многих людей", говорит Питер Юнге-Вентруп, генеральный директор Международного Образовательного Центра Дортмунд (IBB Dortmund), который инициировал кампанию Европейских недель памяти "Будущее после Чернобыля и Фукусимы"."
